That's alot of money for a old bus just because it has two sliders. There is this one that sits right down the road from me in a field just sitting there.

They are scarce because in that era the US put a tax on imported commercial vehicles in an attempt to help US auto makers sell more vehicles. Many buyers didn't want to pay more for a VW bus, so they had low sales and are now considered rare because of it.
