I was in SoCal last week and I worked on the car Bruce Meyers will be taking on this event. It is a Kick-Out SS with a Subaru 2.2 engine & 5 speed transaxle. See attached pictures. Tom

The body is not sitting correctly on the pan in the picture because it is hanging up in the seat tracks, but this will give you an idea of what the installed engine will look like.
[/img]
The rear of the body needs to be cut to clear the intake and transaxle.

Bruce is making the plug for the piece that will cover the hole in the firewall.

Great pictures, Tom. Now, that's the Bruce that we all love to see. Hard at work, enjoying what he is doing. I just hope I can go like him when I am in my 80's. Thanks, for sharing! _________________ I'd rather be an hour early than 5 minutes late. (Mine)

That looks likes it going to take a bigger boob than the one that Bruce made for the Manxter, to cover the intake elbow from turbo to throttle body.
I like the yellow, it looks good

No Art, everyone is excited about the trip. How is your buggy coming along?

Ummmmmm... I haven't even FINISHED my buggy yet. I'm planning (hoping) to have it on the road by the end of july, then get some miles on it before our adventure in Oct. Crazy? Maybe... _________________ www.BASEBALLCARDART.com |

Art,
You sound motivated to getting your buggy ready for the trip.
Have you seen the map of per posed route? It is on the Manx club forum.
Almost 6,000 miles of driving there and back. Some are transporting buggy back to California after trip there. Others are having buggies transported both way.
Taking the time to drive both ways and attending Manx on the Banx event will be about 2 1/2 weeks of being away from work and home for most that plan on driving both ways.
There is always the weather to contend with. It not always going to be flip flops, short pants, and Hawaiian shirts days.
Most weather moves from west to east, If it rains it could last for days as it follows us.
If you have traveled before across the country on a motorcycle you have a better insight on what to expect.
Reading about Vincent & France's adventures of traveling to 49 states and Canada can give you and idea the fun they had on the trips.
If you can get your buggy up and running by the first part of July, there is the Manx Club run at Big Bear. Vincent & France are driving from Quebec to attend this year in their Kick Out SS.
Last year there was about 140 buggies in attendance. Even if you don't have a buggy ready, you can still come and see all the buggies Saturday morning before the runs. You might even find a empty seat to go on a ride on one of the runs. _________________ Joseph

I have been working on the rotors for Bruce's Sea 2 Sea Kick-Out SS. It is a street buggy so I customized the rotors. They are cross drilled, slotted & nickel plated. They will get some "American Style" wheels so I put in a Ford bolt circle & studs. The front rotor studs will get pressed in after the rotors get back to So Cal so they fit in the original boxes for shipping. The rear studs screw in.
Now I have to get them to paint the calipers orange to match the car. Tom

Tom,
Those rotors look great.
I remember you telling me at Kelly Park about the nickel plating on the rotors to keep them from rusting.
It nice having a mill. Someday I going to find one I can afford. _________________ Joseph

Thanks guys! Joseph - getting the mill is only half the battle. The tooling to drill, mill, rotary table ect.. will double the cost. But, once you have it you can make money on it. I have been drilling rotors for these guys for 12 years - http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/discbrake_kit_components.html Look 1/2 way down the page. But this job was a donation to Bruce & the Manx Club. Tom,
I can always hope one with all the tooling will come my way while I will still be able to use it. Then there will be what to do about the 3 phase electric part.
Looking at the pictures and the stories of Bruce's Kick Out it going to be something to see on trip across America. _________________ Joseph

Joe,
I am planning on making the trip with the group across the country.
Driving across America to the Manx on the Banx event was something I started planning, prepping, and testing since early last year.
I have relatives that live in the south east area of the US that I have not seen in years and want to visit with them on the trip.
With a top, side curtains, good heater, heated seats, the best riding vehicle I have, driving the Manxter should be very comfortable for the trip. I will have to find out if I should have added A/C too. _________________ Joseph

Four sponsors thus far . . . Now we just need to get the Kickout put together! Here's Lemorris signing his art with Bruce Meyers at the Classic.

Here's a pic of Bruce cutting the clearance for the air intake of the Subaru motor. It's going to be an awesome buggy! More pics soon!
