|
|
My AC was working great until I tried to turn it on this season. Now, the fan blows, but it's only at ambient air temps. The compressor goes on as it should.
I'm running a product called Duracool in it, similar to Redtek, which I had great results with three years ago (http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=420986&.)
The system seems to be sealed as, three years later, there is still 55PSI with the engine off or idling with the compressor off, and 35-36PSI with engine idling and compressor on. At 2,000 rpm this goes up to fluctuate between 36-40PSI.
So compressor and ventilation fans go on as they should, and the system seems to be fully charged.
Where to start looking? Ideas? |

You need to report back both high and low side pressures at 1500 rpm. 55 psi static sounds low.
This is a long read but get a beer and read the entire thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=292488
The DIY Redtek thread is an online course on vanagon AC. _________________ Cheers,

Sounds to me like your expansion valve is stuck open. |

Which is easy to diagnose if you measure both high /low pressures at 1500 rpm . If it is stuck closed your high pressure will spike, and low pressure may go negative. _________________ Cheers,
