Working on a 56 trout blue Ghia. The brackets I took off were painted body color. Wondering if that is correct or should they be black. They appear never to have been repainted. Also are the dash knobs and shifter knob , the same as a beetle of same year or like the 58-59. Thanks

The brackets should be the same color as the car, as far as the knobs they are different than bug knobs

Actually, on a '56, the knobs are the same as an oval...Shifter, dash, door, heater, etc-all beetle...The only knobs truly unique to a '56 are the fresh air intake...The knobs changed in Septemberish '57 sometime to the tulip style..

'59 Ghia knobs are different than beetle knobs. You would need "Tulip" knobs...You are on the source. Very Happy

Thank you for the informatiion. Car has 3 pc bumpers and two aluminum guards and two steel ones. Are either ones correct. I will get chassis number to verify when built.

They should be steel...The pot metal (aluminum look) came in July of '57....I'm probably going with pot metal because I'm tired of looking for good originals...6 years later and I'm still looking for correct '56 parts...Ugh Shocked

Your month should have 3 piece bumpers...One piece were pre-May '56...

Isn't the bumper bracket black?
and the bumper bracket cover body colour?

I could have picked you up 4 N.O.S. steel guards at H. O. They were 250 euro each. Shocked Cool

As others have said, on a "lowlight,", the bumper brackets were painted body color.

Oval Window Beetle-style interior knobs were used on cars pre-September 16, 1957.
