think you were incorrect in stating those with REAL alberts are unhappy. i'm even more happy, because the fakes never measure up to the originals. i am more than happy to have my 4 original sets.
here are just some of the items that were repopped, but none were close to the real thing: Hazet tool box, 4.5" fuchs, roof rack, flat 4 empi steering wheel, etc. |
brms too, I can tell the difference by looking at them
also empi gt steering wheels _________________ Thornton |

Bring on the fakes. Nothing can compare to the originals. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

Here is a perfect example of a fake that can't compare to the original. I saw these at the Lax Toy and Lit show on Chris Morley's table. Total fake. No definition.......terrible finish.....typical casting. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=134353 _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." I saw the repro mirrors today at the Toy and Lit show. They are really good. Randy is taking orders as we speak. |
53, Are you saying the mirrors Randy sells are reproductions, or does he sell both repro and the real deal? |

So, if a pair of Albert Swans cost $180, would they be real or fake? |

Fake. Randy may have originals that he sells, but I've not seen them. You couldn't touch a set of NOS originals for twice that amount. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

Picked up a Left side Swan neck mirror for 160 from a individual in Europe - not a repop had some serious pitting issues but still thought it was a solid deal. |

I have collected over 10 years two sets of Albert Swan neck mirrors to make up one good set. Unfortunately I only had one complete unit which when I sent away to be chromed and have some knocks massaged out, the chromer took it apart and I am having a lot of trouble working out just how the mirror head goes on. Sounds simple but I'm stumped. I've searched for a drawing or instructions but have not found any. If anyone has some photos showing the parts in order etc it would be a great help.
Thanks |

From what i remember from installing my OG hooded alberts to the mirror arms... They attach with a screw and a spring to keep tension on the mirror head... Nothing spectacular or strange about it. _________________ ✠Miklo✠

You cannot see that well on photo but one nut head is broken which I'll noe get fixed. The other issue is the cup on the arm does not fit through the mirror hole and I cannot see that it just pulls away when nut is removed, maybe I need to use more muscle. |
