25 July we will be heading off for a couple of months through NC/VA/WV/PA, and will eventually be storing the Westy for 6-7 months up at Front Royal pending our return (from New Zealand).
While it will be in an un-heated garage my main concern is mice. Much reading: assurances of home remedies like moth balls and peppermint oil did not stand scientific scrutiny, and the relatively lengthy time involved would render any odorant null after a while any way.
I came across this and have pulled the trigger.

Looks like a good, well constructed device with the added advantage of a desiccant to control moisture. The desiccant is re-usable, too.
Will advise next April/May....

I just hope mice don't like to chew on that cover. Laughing

BTW, I have also seen where people put a wide ring of sticky traps around each tire to keep the little buggers from ever reaching the body for entry.

Have fun on your travels. Hope to see you next spring. Very Happy

A physical barrier should be more effective than the various potions intended to annoy or repel rodentia. Will be interesting to see how this turns out.

I assume you're wise to the other usual long storage precautions. There are many theories and techniques but IMO Stabil in the gas is a must.

Yes, full tank, oil changed, pressure up in tires (or tyres...) clean paintwork etc. Batteries removed and on smart charger.

BTW, If you are leaving it sit that long I'd try to put it on jack stands up enough to take the weight off the tires. I've had tires get 'flat spotted' when they sit that long (BTDT on my 911) and it takes a while to get them back to full round shape. Might not be a problem for you...YMMV, yada, yada, etc. Smile
