Front end help!!!

Just recently, I replaced the tie rods, ball joints, sway arm bushings, and steering damper ( the whole nine yards) on my '73 super beetle. However, if I jiggle the steering wheel side to side, I notice a little "clunk". If I go over a curb to fast it does it, too. What would this be? Steering box? U joint? Help!!!

Well, You are getting closer and yes' U-Joint and Steering box would be Next
on your list to check out.

Then on to the upper strut bearings

Stay away from Curbs Too.

My 1974 SB had that "clunk". It was the "U-joint". Gotta take out the gas tank to replace. A new one makes all the difference, though.

BTW--just buy a new one--not used.
