Just picked these up today, as-powdercoated with the glossiest, most durable gloss black they sell at "Shoreline Coatings" in Branford, CT (sorry about the light drizzle that was falling at the time)...
These wheels were originally purchased from a Samba advertiser, who shipped them in "satin black," which was fine, but after I saw what my local powdercoater guy could do with a nice gloss black, I had to go with it.
Need to let my checkbook recover a little more now before I start thinking about tires...

Our Little Girl celebrated her 50th Birthday today! Having obtained her birth certificate last year, we found her dates of production to be from Aug. 6th to Aug 8th, 1963. It so happens my Birthdate is August 6th-just a few years prior is all! Our Bug is running as good as the Day she left the production line and we love her. Happy Birthday 'Buggy'.... |

My '66 bug is coming along. I got the body properly secured to the pan. The entire braking system is installed, bled, and adjusted. The fenders are on and the car is partially wired. The doors go on next, and then off to the upholstery shop.
Then I'll park it in the garage for a month or so and take a rest. I'm pooped. I've worked non-stop on it since March; either wrenching on it myself or working overtime to pay for someone else to work on it. Mostly both.
At this point I'd like to thank Mashore Autobody in Brentwood and LaVere's VW in Walnut Creek.
I know I still have a long way to go, but it's looking like a car again and not just parts.
My target of getting it done by summer's end has been moved back to year's end. I'm pretty sure I'll make it.

Just picked up a new RR fender, two front seats, and a replacement luggage tray for my 62. _________________ "If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn't sit for a month" - Theodore Roosevelt |

Yesterday I set my spring plates to stock position correcting the unlevel stance. Other than a distributor problem I have I finished my 59 project.
The bummer part, it's been raining here in southeast Alabama for several days. I did get to take a test run and fix my window scrapers. I'm looking forward to taking her out with the top open and the windows down. Rain rain rain sigh. _________________ 59 Euro Ragtop Build (Finished)

Replaced the main headlight and fog light bulbs after my son returned from a 1600 mile drive on Treffen 15.

Generator failed at the end of last week, replaced it with an alternator conversion over the weekend, and found out today that the alternator is putting out way too much juice (about 15.8 volts at idle).
New alt is ordered and should be on the car by the weekend. |

That is cool and I am making one. I heard someone talking about one of these at a local VW gathering yesterday. Awesome idea. I am in. _________________ "You're either on the bus, or you're off the bus." ~kk
