Put on a new exhaust so I can get the stock bumper back on. That will be tomorrow's project. _________________ |o\#/o|

got stuck and no picture
driving out to the wood lot in our single cab
I drove Ruf empty into a ditch and the right front wheel was in the ditch and the left rear tire was barely touching the ground
a no go situation - good time for fiddle sticks
all the 40 hp power went to the rear wheel with no traction
took 2 friends to push it out

I started re assembling my 15 window after a respray.
Brett was absolutely meticulous in getting the SWR just right.
We agreed not to spray the headlight buckets to preserve the grease pencil writing.
I spit polished the buckets and the colour match is absolutely perfect.
I am really happy with it.
The holes for antenna, emblem and de Luxe trim are all still present in the nose, just taped on the inside still. _________________ The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge

I walked into my garage today, looked at what's sitting in it and with a tinge of excitement I said "Hey, I have a bus!". |

Next time, try pulling the e-brake lever. It can stop the spinning wheel just enough to give traction the other wheel. Sounds like your ditch was pretty deep though. _________________ nothing |

What did I do for my bus today?
Not much other than swapped a beam!
These brakes went into the Dormy but then the juans they replaced will be installed on the Plump Truck to replace the wandering drums. Had this set for quite a long time and finally decided to just get'R'don! The calipers, hubs, spindles and backing plates are powder coated. Got new seals as well as new FAGs (roller bearings) and new pads. Opted on just getting the right tool for the right job so instead of "hammering" the seats in place, wanting to get a hydraulic press. That also will require the proper drivers so I made those too, using some old brass weights. Unfortunately both local Harbor Freight stores were just out of the presses. So I made some progress while waiting for them to get a new shipment.
Having finally acquired the hydro-press from HF, was easy peasy!!!
So out with the "old"...
In with the "new" ...
The "old" beam came with a brake booster (which didn't work!) attached to it, so the master cylinder went way back there with a long assed rod to reach it from the pedal. So I had to install the master back it it's original place which requires a whole new configuration for the brake lines as well as the fluid supply line.
Here you can see the hacking needed to make this "late" beam fit in the tight area of the split bus.
Greased up hubs, rotors on, calipers in, lines tight!
Relocated Filler for the reservior. Used to be behind the seat since the master was behind the beam on the servo. Easyer to access now and though it looks "vulnerable" there, it clears as good as the heater knob. In the many years that I've been driving buses, I can't recall a single time I've hit that knob so I'm calling it safe!
Once I took a drive with all that new stuff on, it became evident that the box was shot. Luckily I bought a rebuilt one a couple of years ago so I threw that in too! Here's the beautiful and non-leaky fresh box!
Now I only need an action shot of ^that^! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

Pyro, Any action shots of the steering box removal? Do you have a lift at home to make removal easier? Or did you just use hydraulic floor jacks?
I ask because in the near future I might be doing this same procedure.
Der, it might be going back to the shop this weekend for some more detail work that I was not happy with, small stuff but it still annoys me to look at. |

At first I though it needed to be propped up "wheelie" style, having once before replaced a steering shaft without removing the box! However, it was a piece of cake removing the whole box. Only drove it over 8" ramps. Once you unbolt the mega-bracket that holds the box, it slips down far enough to slide out of the dash pod support and wiggle completely out. Coulda use a little help pushing the new one up through the dash support but the "crew" (me, myself & I) managed. Done it all in about an hour's time! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

Good to hear Ivan! and good on you for getting it done.

Cool thanks. |
