So does anyone know when and why the 804 boxes changed to the 190 designation?

I asked and they assume around 1997, but someday Iīll look it up in the old catalogs.

This must be the weirdest Hazet logo I have ever seen on a tool.

Found it on an antique 1/2" extension bar. It doesn't say anything other than "Hazet" on it, no #, no "SPECIAL MATERIAL" like so many other really old Hazet tools.

I don't think it's fake. I understand there are possibly some production issues involved here but still, look at the shape of the letter "a".

Hi Guys!

I have a Hazet VW spare wheel toolbox and I want to know if anyone has any idea of what year(s) it may be from. I found one on the net 56-59 that looks exactly the same, hopefully someone here can confirm it. It hasn't got any of the tools and the exterior has been blasted at some point. Any isea what it would be worth?

Many thanks,

Justin

Hi borninabus,

itīs a VW special tool (VW 161 a) for the application of:

• for removing and replacing the retaining ring on the pinion

• the snap ring on the dual ball bearing drive pinion

• the locking ring on the rear axle

• the snap ring on the bearing bolt of the brake lever

• for removal of the locking ring on the drive shaft

• the retaining ring for the distributor drive gear on the crankshaft

•the snap ring at the collector end shield of the VW starter

Types: all, except 48

I hope the translation makes sense (out of 1976 catalog)

i was thinking snap ring pliers but the odd shape threw me off.
maybe that's why they looked oddly familiar.
they must be pictured in the manuals.
the jaws are in OK shape: i'll give them a whirl and see how they work.

how can i judge how old they are?
thanks for the detailed reply Smile

Tell me when you tried them out Smile

Well if the Hazet is written with "small a", then itīs pre 1965. If itīs big then after that. And it was still made in 1979 so I canīt look it up in catalogs after that because I only scanned them till 1979.

I have some tools in my collection, with the underline connected to the lower end of the "t", not the "u"-type underline, it's different, do you have a date for this kind of logo, I was looking for some info on it but no luck so far.

Nice collection!

The 2577 (first "official" appearance in the 1967s catalog) is for VW, all after 1966:

22 mm: For installation and expansion of the rear-spotlightswitch

17 mm: For tighten and loosen the screw of the front gearbox suspension
