I think you guys are making this way to hard. Any Beetle cable will work, just cut to size and bend a hook on the end. If you have one with two cables like a long Beetle cut one side off.

Not much left here to connect to. How do they attach to the box?

Someone has cut off the tails of your cables and bent back the stub ends to keep the rubber weather seal from falling off. Best option is to replace the entire cable set, which is item 5 in the previous parts diagram. I have seen some creative work where persons have extended the stub ends with mechanic's wire, if the remaining ends are long enough. However, it appears that these cables are the least of your problems, as it appears your engine doesn't even have heater boxes on it for the cables to attach to!

Doesn't appear you have heater boxes any longer. There's nothing there to connect those cables to.

Heater boxs (exchangers) look like this

You can see the lever the cable gets attached to on the upper left of this one.

Semper

Ugh! Yes I don't have heater boxes. I purchased this one in Long Beach CA where I don't believe they needed them.

Citroen or Semper

The comment that I may have a 68' Bus tranny is interesting. Is the a specific charteristic/tranny code that would be able to let you guys know what type/year tranny I have?
