Wrong colored coil?
Wrong oil used in crank case?
Wrong attitude used when adjusting valves?
Used card board box from Ikea instead of a USPS box to kneel on when changing spark plugs to NKG from BOSCH???
Wrong clamp to hold fresh air pipe instead of og german one?

This thread is about decals. That fan shroud appears to have original decals. _________________ 1966 Velvet Green Standard |

I have reproduced this emissions sticker that would have been found on the fan shroud of all 1974 buses sold in the US.
Here's an original:

Excellent!
The bugs of the same era would have the same sticker. If you're selling them you can expand your market!

Thanks Robbie. There are differences in the stickers for the different models - things like the engine code, timing specs, idle RPM and idle CO numbers, and whether the car was sold in CA or not (stricter emissions in CA, I believe).
I think it's because of these variations that no one has bothered to reproduce them (there is no 'one size fits all')
But I will keep on searching and I will post any new ones that I find here. _________________ Mike B. |

Didn't see this Maple Leaf beauty on the list. Notice the circle pattern is similar to the VW VIN sticker.

My 77 is in for some body work, and I might be losing my Westfalia stickers on the drivers side dog leg.
I've been mocking this up today at work and am curious if anyone sees anything glaringly different. My old one was in bad shape and had been painted around years ago by a PO.
I remember a similar thread and things got hot - realizing that it is not an original, and some of the letters had to be hand drawn to match originals whats the thoughts? Close enough to rock or abandon the idea?
I'm going to make the decal in three steps. A clear decal with the dotted numbers
The silver decal with cutouts (here in white) and a UV film over the top to keep the foil decal from peeling/fading.
I din't mesure the original, can someone give me the final dimensions?
Thoughts?
I realize the bottom number is aligned differently, I am trying to figure out if I am missing a digit or if the whole number was just printed further to the left than the 09 77 above it. Does anyone know what the bottom number represents? Might it appear anywhere else on the car? It seemed to be the 0225004 that appears on the smaller tag above so I reiterated that same number. _________________ Mike

Maybe a bit wider space between "09 77", the 4 in the serial seems to be under the first 7 of 77 and your rendering looks to be under the 2nd. Other than that it looks real good. |
