Dyno Don did an awesome job keeping a bunch of candy-crazed kids in line waiting for the VW Beetle piñata to spill its contents while coaching each one on how to swing the stick. He kept them at bay for at least 15 minutes, which is an eternity when you're talking kids.
He's a great part of the show. Wouldn't be the same without him. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

If anyone has any pictures of the piñata bash, please send them to me. I missed it.

In the hopes keeping a more positive tone, I gotta give kudos to those who camped, despite the threat, and to those who gambled driving long distances on Sunday not knowing how the day was gonna turn out. Their gamble really paid off. Although the overall turnout was down a little due because of the weather threat, we still pulled in about 300 air-cooled cars. That is great for the northeast!
You all rock!
Personally, I wish I could enjoy a little more of the show, but as with most of our membership, I'm proud to be part of this event. I think we have built one hell of an event and that goes equally to the CJVWS members who help put it on and to the folks who come on out and participate.
While we are on the subject participation, I gotta call out the South Jersey Volkswagen Club and their conspicuous absence. WTF? I thought you guys were a little tougher than that. Maybe I'm wrong. At least there were a few guys in banana suits at the party on Saturday night that helped fill in the gap. Also there was a new Maryland club that stepped up at the Dub Push that filled in for you too. These guys rocked [I can't remember their name, (Euro something?)]. They entered a bus and the South Philly VAN Club, pushing Schwings Oval, barely took the win. So if these guys bring a Beetle next year, they are gonna be a major contender. Somebody let me know their name. Also, the South Philly VAN Club squeeked by again, barely beating the CJVWS team for top honors, but to their credit, they had just ran a heat so they were at a little disadvantage.
Chris took top honors again with his daughters Mean Green Machine in the Valve cover racing. A new guy, Tim built one hell of a car, and I was convinced he was gonna take the gold, but they were neck and neck and Chris crossed the finish line just a hair faster. The competition was fierce and a heck of a lot of fun. It just keeps getting better and better. Out of respect for Manny, I won't mention what happened in his heat against a little girl named Rylan
So guys, post your highlights, let me know the good stuff too.

You guys do a tremendous job putting this event together, and I'm glad you and your club members get the recognition you rightfully deserve, The rain was probably the best part of the camping experience this year, there's some really good pictures that came out of the shenanigans that went on under the tent as were taking shelter from the rain, I myself wrapped it up at about 2:30 am
As far as the valve cover races go, I owned up to it as soon as I lost and congratulated Casey's daughter publically and posted it here as soon as I got home Sunday night, no shame in my game, I did the walk of shame to pick up my valve cover at the bottom of the track.

The valve cover races were very competitive AGAIN this year, as it turned out I lost in the first heat to Casey's daughter, who I thought it was 10 years old at the time, only to find out later, she's not only 8 years old, but she built her own valve cover race car. talk about adding insult to injury, Good job little girl .........

Now BUDDY! as far as the dub push contest goes The South Philly Club ran two heats just like the rest of them, so I don't see how my guys would have an advantage over your guys, in fact we ran the second round and went back and got on line for the finals, while your guys were sitting around resting for almost 15 minutes waiting for us to send the new team out of MD packing. It doesn't matter anyway, my guys were ready to run 5 - 6 heats need be and still bring home the gold. Maybe your guys need a more strict training regimen like I had my guys go through for the last 2 years. A little discipline goes a long way. I can’t believe find myself defending my guys year after for just being so awesome.
But I’m glad the conversation came up again so I can show more pictures of my guys doing what they do best.
look at my guys stretching, doing calistenics, mentally prepering for the challange at hand, Our team owner overseeing the pre race ritual making sure his money is being spent well, we have a team mascot, and we have cool color uniforms.
now look at the other teams, they look like hobos, is Casey seriously wearing steel toe boots for the race? looks like he just came from a job site from pouring concrete.

I'd like to personally thank all the folks at CJVWS for putting together by far the best run show I have ever attended. The day after this show, I find myself looking forward to the next year. I'll admit the training Manny puts us through is rigorous but its worth it every year.
From valve cover races to clowns painting odd things on my daughters face, to piñatas, and VW Twister you guys come up with great ways to keep the kids entertained and that goes a long way.
I know you guys sacrifice a lot to run the show and a lot of you miss seeing the show cars or enjoying the show itself.
My wife and I both brought cars that probably had the lowest attendance of all models - Things and ovals and we were able to bring home two lunchboxes. The twinkies were both genius and hilarious.
Our 200 mile trek home was as smooth as it could go and we arrived on Kent Island just after 10pm. I was still pumped from the show and the fact that both VWs made it without any significant issues.
I love this show and I can't wait til next year. Cheers. _________________ Shadetree Westy

Dennis Sargent from CJVWS came up with the idea last year - I gotta give him all the credit.
I also want to thank everyone that makes this event possible. To all my fellow CJVWS members, you all knocked it out of the park. It takes some really amazing people to pull this off and we've got a ton of great guys and gals that showed how much they care about the air cooled community and keeping this hobby alive and well.
Before the show field cleared out on Sunday many of us were already talking about how much we are looking forward to next year - the 10th anniversary of the AACG!
Even though we got beat by the South Philly Van Club in the dub push our spirits were not broken - we'll be back next year ready to roll.

I don't know how you do it, but no matter what the forecast may be, come show time, its always bright and sunny. You guys have something for everyone that attends, from clowns face painting to a bean bag toss for the kids, to a kitchen that cranks out food all day and a full bar! What could be better than that?!? Valve cover racing to the dub push, you guys hit a homerun every year.
Big thank you for all the hard work it takes to make this show as successful as it is. You can tell a good show when there are 10 pages of posts before it even starts. Here are a couple of random pics...
