The photo in front of the Windmill is unreal!
Check out the duds on the boy.
He looks like trouble.
Any idea where he is today?
Wouldn't it be neat to interview him? _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

The man in the photo is the original owner, the kid is his son. I bought the bus from the grandson who is a preacher of some sort in LA. The owner was in the film industry which accounts for the professional style photos. More to come..... |

Very very cool pictures! I must say that the background on that page messes with my head. _________________ VW-less right now...looking

Jeff,
Those are excellent photos and a great pictorial history for a great bus. What is the predicted finish date and do you have all the 'parts' to complete it?

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I agree that the background is a little dizzying so I will change it. The image is a blurred-out scan of the dealer letter confirming the order. I'll post a clear image for all of you Italian readers. (The dealership was in Italy.)
I was up to see the progress today. Mark L. is doing a great job and is the most detailed person I know when it comes to VW restoration. Did it need restoring?, well I think so. It had been "restored" in the early 70's. At that time it got a respray, new upholstery and a perforated vinyl headliner. It was also outfitted with after market turnsignals and a back-up light so the decision was made to go for it. I hope its ready for the Classic this year, atleast that is the goal. Brendan, I'm with you on the Caravan....see you bright and early for the drive up the coast. Mapquest now has an option for directions to avoid the highways...we're in!
The bus is very complete but here are a few things I need for it:
2 NOS medium pop-out latches
1 pair aluminum SWF wiper bases
NOS ashtrays for the rear
NOS wind wing latch bases (the fixed thingys that the latches clip against when the windows are shut)
Let me know if any of you hoarders have these things. I have some BD stuff to trade. lots of Hazet tools, etc. Thanks |

Sweet pictures. Best of luck on the resto, too. I think we all dream of having a bus with that much documentation.

I didn't realize it had been repainted. Cool, good luck!
There was someone selling an NOS popout latch on the site. Sorry, I could not find it quickly. He had a bunch of parts that were all bagged in the ad. _________________ How to Post Photos

Thanks for the lead EB. I will see what I can find. I added a historical time line page and will fill in more details as time permits....I think my eyeballs are going to fall out from staring at the monitor for the last couple hours putting it together..... |
