What kind of gun did you use to spray that much flake dry on such a big area? I've been wanting to go with a heavy flake on my buggy but i can't decide if i want to spray it on wet or dry...
... here i was thinking i could get full flake coverage with a pound or two! lol |

Thanks, I am going to run the slots most of the time but can switch them out fairly easily.
Joe
Looking forward to seeing my WV buddies as well. I knew you would rebuild that trans if you had a few "minutes" to do it before the event.
Chris
Thanks, I am running BFG Radial TA 215/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear on the slots. GFB All Terrain TA 30"/9.5"/15" rear and Mickey Thompson Mini Mag 15" on the front on the smoothies. (only one size for the Mini Mags)

Thanks for the kind words. Looking forward to seeing your buggy as well. Also want to talk to you about welders.

I used a "Flake Buster"
To get complete coverage you really have to spray it dry. I have sprayed it in the clear and you get missed areas and would have to go over them multiple times and then not be sure to cover it completely.
You may be able to get full coverage with 2-3lbs if you covered the floor with plastic and reused what did not stick.
Roy
Are we there yet??

Next to the green flake it does look blue.

What type of products do you use to keep your wood steering wheel looking nice? I have looked into Howard's Feed-n-wax for my Grant wheel. |

Awesome Vince! That's what I figured you used... I found some plans online to build a "homemade" flake gun that i'm gonna practice with. Hopefully I'll get as good of a result as you did!
I read another article (on the Fast N' Loud Green Gasser they built) saying they used 3 pounds of flake on it... Surely I can cover a buggy with that much! Plastic will be everywhere so I can get my money's worth! |

So far I have not had to put anything on the wood wheel. I do keep it in the garage, so sun exposure is limited. I plan on testing some teak oil on it when it starts to look dry.

Thanks for the kind words.
You can make one out of a bedliner sprayer and a spice bottle.
You do need to regulate the air pressure though so you do not spray too much.

I am trying to wrap my arms around this flake deal. You say you put it on dry. I think I am being to literal, but I cannot picture how this method works, (it is obvious it does by your results).
If it is dry, how does it take a top coat and not blow away off the bugy surface or stay on the verticle sides? _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

That's a flake buster. I have one. You spray a wet coat than flake than blow off the excess. The clear will grab the flake and self orient. Than you simply top coat. _________________ Google this.
