Slowly getting my Thing ready for Missouri state inspection, replaced the main brake line last week, getting to the other bits . . .

It appears that the fuel gauge is not working, I added 5 gallons of gas, and it reads full.

On many of the VW Type 1's that I have had made after 1967, I would install a mechanical fuel gauge and float, I found them to be more accurate. Easy install, remove metal plate to right of speedometer, install plate with fuel gauge, install float, connect wire.

Can anyone thing of a reason why I could not install one in my Thing? I do know I'd need to cut a hole in the dash, or mount under the dash, the gauge.
