I don't think this seller knows what he has.
He has this car listed as a "1979 Convertible Beetle Price: $2800"
I used to own a 1978 Champagne Edition II Super Beetle and I know how hard it is to find parts.
I hope a 78 CEII owner can take advantage of this.

Maybe I just dont know whats different about these other than the paint, but that thing took a severe hit. Look at the inside of the drivers door. I am sure there is a lot more damage than what you can see. I wouldnt pay $2800 for a 50 split hit that hard.

X3, that's a parts car. Maybe $1500. You could salvage a lot of it, top, interior, wheels, some sheet metal, possibly the motor and trans, but I agree that this most likely isn't a good candidate to be repaired.

The most unique part of the CEII is the paint, I'm not sure what the OP feels is hard to find considering 77-79 verts are practically identical.
