|

Pretty specific question, but I've gone through a lot of my system, read a ton on the subject, etc. After eliminating most other components some people have reported that the "circuit board/controller" (if that's the proper term) can just go bad over time. Can I verify this using an ohm meter? Anybody know how?
The nitty gritty if it helps...
'90 syncro with a 2.5 subie (2010 MY) conversion.
No problem a couple months after conversion but then started seeing an occasional coolant warning light. When the van is up to temp and only when accelerating, typically in 2nd and 3rd gears, I'll see my LED flashing. Once up to speed I back off the throttle slightly to cruise and the light stops flashing. Temp gauge showing normal, and I've confirmed 192F coolant temp with a scangauge.
I've pulled the relay for the coolant level with no change in symptom.
My research suggests this could be a problem with an exposed wire and it's grounding out. Checked through much of the system and none of the wiring looks bad or exposed.
Because I had zero problems right out of the gate and my symptom is progressively getting worse and much more repeatable, I'm down to the LED's control circuit slowly going out on me. Does my theory hold water? So, how do I test the instrument cluster?

How's your coolant level? The '90 2.2 in my '87 Westy does the same thing when my coolant gets low. |

My coolant level is rock solid. At first this was my thought too, so I bled the hell out of us using various methods and made a Libby bong. I've also sat in the back with the lid off while someone was driving and I did not see any air pockets forms in the tank. Besides, with the coolant level relay pulled, this component can no longer cause the light to come on... unless I'm misunderstanding something.
Pretty much eliminated coolant level as a cause. _________________ previous:
