PostPosted: Sat Oct 26, 2013 3:10 pm    Post subject: Bosch headlight lenses question Reply with quote

Recently I purchased a pair of Bosch headlight lenses and I think I received a mismatched pair. Both of them has # 1305604087 stamped and the crescent moon patttern in the left side. I made some research and i found that they sold me a couple of "passenger side" lenses.

I emailed to the seller and told me "his how we sale them" and that he/ she will ask somebody else.

Am I missing something? Maybe Bosch is selling only the part #1305604087 and I have to put backwards the driverīs side lense ? ( has to be BOSCH #130560409)

Can you enlight me about the troubles of put a pair of mismatched lenses?

thank you!

Here is the picture of the lenses they sent me:

Might just need to flip one upside down when you put it in - that's just my guess though

You got two from the same side. They are side specific.

You got two right, passenger-side lenses. Left lens has slightly different fluting. See this pic, where the driver-side lens is on the left.

Probably the guy in the warehouse isnt familiar with the differences =(

if I have to use that lenses( I would really hate to do it.) are there any problem with the way the wrong lense disperses the light?

These lenses have an asymmetrical pattern. The fluting is specifically designed to disperse more light to the right, and have a distinct cut-off as not to blind oncoming drivers. If you flip the lens upside down, it will not be pleasant for others and not very effective for you.

As a near-term workaround I suppose you could tape the trapezoidal section of fluting on your upside-down lens like this picture and see how that works:

Yes.

Make them send you a replacement or a refund.

The seller offered me a refund and I have to send the lenses back to the USA. Sounds like a lot of hassle for me. First of all, I already paid aduanal taxes, second, I will need time to repackage the lenses and spend more money to send them back.
In the end, despite the refund, I will have nothing but wasted time and energy.

Somebody has a driverīs side headlight lense and wants to sell it to me?

Payment method: paypal, and has to be sent via USPS.

Thank you for your responses, this thread was very usefull when the seller told me that "they are all the same.....there is no left or right ones..."

Please correct me if I am wrong, but fluted lenses should both be the same. Either both aiming Left or both aiming Right. You can't have one aiming Left and the other aiming in the wrong direction. As far as I know, LHD fluted lenses are hard to find.

agreed, my headlights are original german ones, both lenses are the same. the light pattern is solely from how you aim them.

they look right to me

That picture is of a correct pair, notice the moon shaped ribbed area is on a different side on each one yet the rest of the lens pattern is the same, the OP's lenses (pic at top of page) have the moon shaped ribbed area on the same side on both lenses making them both for one side of the bus. I don't think you could aim it enough to compensate for the angle the lenses mount on as the wrong side one would be pointing at the ditch or oncoming lane and if you flipped it upside down it'd be aimed at the sky.
