Reworked the aluminum dash. Added new toggles to run everything, (turn signals, wipers, high/low beams, horn)
And now its my daily driver. 100+ miles per day. Great little car. Cant wait to build it up to a mid travel baja! Loving the old school fenders.

This folks...Is HOW you make a Baja Bug out of a Super Beetle!
Beautiful car in many ways. Yummi has more cause to show this off than most of those on here showing theirs off.
Who did the fabrication?
What V6 is it powered by?
What does it have for a trans?
What a-arm setup is that? Is it a bolt-on sort of kit, or fabricated from scratch?

Who did the fabrication? Guy with the original vision is in So. Cal. My fabricator is Jason Miller with AZP Concepts in Mesa AZ. I tell him it is his car, I just write the checks. We work hard to stay "true" to the car wherever possible w/ out regard to cost
What V6 is it powered by? Honda 3.5 w/ intake flip and Gibson headers. Similar sand cars put down 275 to the rear wheels.
What does it have for a trans? Mendeola 4e w/ 2d nose set us as a 3 speed with .89 fourth for an "overdrive" highway gear. Bill @ AZTransaxle
What a-arm setup is that? Is it a bolt-on sort of kit, or fabricated from scratch? There is nothing bolt on here. By way of example the lower radiator hose has 1.5 hours fabrication time - for a hose! The off the shelf parts are apparently only there to hold the custom bits next to each other.  |

The quick back story is this. Guy built it out of So. Cal. Came up for sale in about 2010. We made a run at it but could not close the deal. 2nd owner had it up for sale in 2012 and we were able to pick it up then. Odd sale in that I had more pictures of the car than did the 2nd owner.
The basic car is tube chassis w/ about 20" on all four, fully functioning convertible top and street legal. It came to me with an 002 and a Honda 3.0. The original builder had a great vision. Our goal is to perfect the car. To that end we dump a serious amount of time and resources into it. And we are not done.
Major upgrades so far - rework of cage, new seats, electronics, install torsion / sway bar, Mendeola 4e w/ 2d nose upgrade. Honda 3.5, rework power steering, complete rework of back end, etc etc.
It is a lot of fun.

Was looking for the color code, found several shades of the orange/Arancio, do you still have the paint color code and corresponding manufacturer?

Thank you. The top is pretty cool feature. It does seem to be scare.
Here it is in sand trim with the top up. It was stupid hot that weekend and we were done with the sun. The top works very well to keep the sun off, or let the sun in. Now, having said that I firmly believe a roof is better when off road.
So, to address that concern we strengthened the cage and redesigned some elements of it to better disperse the load and prevent being an ostrich in the sand in the event of "rut roh." Hope we never have to put that to the test.
Most folks are curious to see how the front was done. Here is the current with on board air and winch.
I was looking to see if I had any before the winch / air compressor. Nothing really, here is a good side shot. Pretty basic center pivot car set up with some braces / bulkheads for the mount points.
