Did a quick search, but couldn't find the information I'm looking for so...

My concern is how best to secure my dogs in the event of an accident. During my recent trip I had to make an emergency stop and one of my pups rolled off the bed and slammed onto the floor. He's perfectly fine and just shook it off like nothing happened, but it made me think about what would have happened to him if we were ever in a real accident instead of just a quick stop. I've seen the pet barrier that GW sells, but what I'm looking for is a barrier just in front of the bed. I'm wondering if someone has already worked this out or has some ideas about the best way to go about this project.

Also, I'm looking at no-spill dog water bowls for the pups too, so if you folks have any suggestions there I'd love to hear them. Thanks as always!

Kevin

If you *must* have a pet buckle, this is one one tested better (not well, but better than nothing):
http://www.immioutdoors.com/products/petbuckle/
But you may want to read this FIRST:
http://wachusett.pssweb.net/Test%20report%20pets%20in%20cars-1.pdf

100% failure:

crash tests w/ dog belts:

crash test dog in nothing vs cage on seat:

Link

The safest place for your pet to travel is in a cage, in the foot well. We usually suggest the back seat, but not so easy in a Vanagon...In a cage in the front seat or in the very back, even between the two seats b/c momentum is going to make the cage fly forward...

Thanks guys. I actually have a pet seat belt, but neither of my dogs like it.

@ThankYouJerry - Do you have this bowl? Comments on performance? Not sure I want something that large on the floor, but perhaps I could use that and place the food bowl over the flat section Think
