I'll be there! Can't wait to hear about the transaxle work. I helped a buddy with a westy purchase this morning, hopefully he will be there too.

hate that my weekend got busy and we could not make it and meet everyone. I plan to come to the next gathering along with a buddy up here near lake lanier who also has a vanagon.

My '87 Westy if new to me and i have Questions! Very Happy

We missed you Matt! I propose another AVC meeting the first Thursday in Nov. There was also a talk of a cruise up to NW Georgia in the next few weeks to check out a private VW collection. I'll keep you posted.

It's getting a little late in the year for me with work and holiday goings on..Burrrr...winter's coming. the Propex is installed but untested, adding a CO2/propane detector when it gets here, next week..

Well,

I've missed the fun at Caffeine and Octane, but the good news is I've gotten my transaxle back in after a clutch and throw out bearing replacement, among a few other items this weekend.

I learned a bunch! I'll be buttoning her up tonight and hoping to take a test ride late in the evening.

If any of you have not attended Caffeine and Octane, its easily the most varied and interesting car show I've been to. You will see a lot of neat stuff there. I've only ever taken my air cooled vw's there, but I have noticed the vanagons in the past. I'm excited to get out there in January, weather permitting.

In the meantime, if there are any "get togethers" before December 19th or so I'd be in for a cold one or two. On the 20th my family and I are heading out of town for the holidays.

I have a few questions about what to do next with mine and how to do it. Interested to hear other folks' experiences too.

Maybe not with both kids. My daughter is sitting here with me and when asked if she would like to go to a Westy GTG she responded: What I would like is a kitty cat .

lmao.....my daughter is begging me for a puppy. Pointing out that she already got a kitten is beside the point!

I would echo the sentiment about the weekend. I'd love to be able to bring my 6 and 2 year old, as they almost wont let the westy out of the driveway without going along too.

maybe a taco stand location in atlanta or- is there still a 3 dollar cafe in buckhead (almost hate to go there.)

There has to be a good mexi-joint somewhere near I-285 or one of the malls....

Be happy to host but our humble little abode, while on the lake, is a bit on the smallish side! When the weather is nice it's tough to beat being outside on the back deck. Not getting a lot of that lately!

In fact, nature is playing games with me. I took the nasty carpet out of the westy, hauled it up to the car wash, and pressure washed it with any and all cleaners available. Man did it come out nice!

So I lay it out on the back deck railing to dry, and viola! we get umpteen straight days of mist and rain. I've managed to get all the smaller pieces to dry in the garage but the front piece just gets a natural rinse and repeat!

Now my clutch is all buttoned back up and I have no carpet- and I thought that would be the easier task by far...... Laughing
