|
|
hi all,
I want to refinish the silver reflectors of the tail light and i don't know how to open them up....looks like they are sealed in one piece...
anyone know how to open them without breaking them?
also what's the best way to refinish the reflectors? using silver tape? sliver paint?
thanks in advance... |

I cleaned my taillight housings out with alcohol and lined them as fully as possible with aluminium tape. The light output has more than doubled without any change in bulbs.
Highly recommended! _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

Looks like a fair number of clean pairs in the classifieds for $50. You might even be able to offer less. For the time it might take to refurbish, you could replace them pretty easily.
This pretty much shows how my perspective has changed over the years. 10 years ago I would have spent 4-5 hours refurbishing something. I did everything myself. Now with such limited free time, if it's reasonable priced and I value my time somewhere around $25/hr, I'll gladly pay for something like this. _________________ 89 Westy 2.1 Auto |

They don't come apart, not without shattering.
Do the aluminum tape on the inner surfaces as suggested above, it works great, and you can apply it to the curved reflector surface as well. _________________ '86 Syncro CHC Top AAZ Turbodiesel
