$40 for the 2 Grabbers mounted on the front, with rims (barely used, but used and purchased locally - Tristen took the other 2) $40 for the rear two, also purchased used locally from a tire shop with very minimal wear.
$6 worth of satin black spray paint, so just under $100 for the whole kit n kaboodle.
The motor on this green 79 is a bit weaker than on my primary bus, so gearing it up has made it a touch slower to climb hills at highway speed - but im rarely hitting the highway on this one and really it just evens it out to how every previous bus ive owned handles the hills (in 3rd.)
If I was going to road trip in it a lot, id probably drop down to a BFG LT195/75R14, which would limit the top end speed but allow it to rev quicker for pulling hills. (unless I was in the midwest, then id probably leave the bigger tires on it, but we have LOTS of hills around here.) |

Hooked battery up to charger so get her all charged up and maybe drive her around the neighborhood, only to get a message from the charger "Replace or Service Batter". _________________ 1978 Kombi

Charged the battery, took the cover off, checked some odds and ends. discovered the choke isnt working at all but fired her up anyway and manually ran the choke. Took her for a nice 50 or so mile drive. She purred like a kitten.
Nice having the weather clear up here in pittsburgh, the rain washed away all the salt, and its supposed to be 50-60 all week!
Bus weather.
Tomorrow i'll pop the carb off and fix the choke. |

Nice. I just got plates on my new bus and got it all legal-like. I got year of manufacture historic plates and never have to inspect or register or renew the bus again. Yay! _________________ air-cooled or nothing for me

Installed a new floor for Rusty today. What a great way to spend Christmas Eve. Got flooring at Home Depot. _________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That's funny, that's exactly what I saw, too.

Wow, that's got to be the best gift ever! What a guy. My wife would never have thought of a gift like that for me. I did show her your post to give her a hint, however. _________________ '03 MV |
