1960 Bastard Fusebox help needed

I have a March 60 single cab vin num 586XXX and I can not find pics or an explanation of how the 8 fuse bakelite box and flasher are supposed to mount. The bracket under the dash looks just like one from a 57 I looked at. Am I missing a bracket or something? It mounts w 2 screws instead of one. When I install new kick panels, I want it to be in the right spot so it looks correct. Thanks

Hope this helps!! From our DEC 1959 built, 1960 model walk thru panel camper conversion.

The later flasher in the image has its own holder bracket. The bracket this later holder bracket is bolted to should be the OG baklite flasher bracket, but bent 90 degrees to work with the later flasher.

in the link it has a 8 fuse fuse holder. it has indbras on left -but has vw in a circle cast in it to right of the indbras .

so if brazilian is it still NOS??? but not german?

ya, there is a 8 fuse screw terminal fuse box used only for later 1960 buses. I didn't find a pic of it in the gallery. It looks a lot like the one Eric & Barb posted a pic of, except it is wider as it has 8 instead of 6 fuses.

I think the fuse box mounting on the body is the same as 3/55-early 60
As there are two holes in the fuse box and two holes in the mount on the body, it should be straightforward. Ignore the yellow arrow.

OK, I think maybe I have a different style 8 fuse bakelite box. I got it at a swap and it is slightly different maybe then the ones you guys posted. I'll post pics of what I have tomorrow. It still has the German labels on the paper tag, except mine fits in the lid, not under the fuses themselves. I also think I remember that the wire positions are different on the paper label, than from Bently wiring positions. Maybe it went to some other old German vehicle?

One key element to check on your fuse box is which circuits are piggy-backed. Another photo from the same ad for the 8 fuse holder shows 3 pairs of circuits are combined:

If you get a generic box that does not have jumpers on the back, you can use bridges to combine circuits as necessary. Here is a bridge from one of my ads:

You can also use a short section of wire to jumper the circuits but then your wiring will look like the above mentioned Indian hotel.

This is obviously the wrong fusebox, the mounting holes are about 90 mm apart! Anyone know what this goes to? A Porsche or Mercedes or something? I did get it at a steal and it was mixed with VW parts, so I assumed it was the one I needed. It has a logo with the letters L and K fused together like one letter, inside of a circle.

Your mystery fuse box has a broken fuse tab so it is probably best just to buy a new one.

Yeah, I noticed that. But I planned on wiring it like a 6 fuse 59, and using the extra for fog lights or the seat heaters I robbed from an Infiniti. I'm mostly going for the correct look

You should consider a 6 fuse unit for the stock stuff, and then add a separate two fuse holder for the accessories you mention:

After searching unsuccessfully, is there at thread showing the various VW fuseboxes, their year and model applications fuse and "bridge" connection and applications?

I have one that I can't quite figure out.

It has a rectangular shape that is the same footprint as the 1959-ish 6-fuse fusebox. But instead of a flat cover, it has a domed cover. In the following photo, the closer box is the WW supplied Bus 6-fuse box for comparison.

The one below on the left is the typical Bus box from WW, the domed one on the right.

In the shot below, the WW box is below the domed one.

With the cover off, the paper legend is on the cover, not under the fuses.

Notice how the second and last fuse in the following photo are much shorter.

There is one set of fuses that are "bridged", although I'm not sure if that is factory or owner bridged.

Here is a close-up of the inside of the domed fuse-cover. And the writing is all in German.

Anyone recognize this one and know more about it's uses and application. I don't remember seeing domed covers before, so I wonder if it is for a Porsche or other German car...
