Blue Bug Long time Samba- Syncro owner. Have not had a bug in 45 years so had to do one . Just got done almost. Here are some pictures and a question. Last thing to do is fix the fuel gauge. Have a new sender and gauge, can you put the gauge in the back of the speedometer with out taking it out of the dash? Move the wind cover take out the fresh air box the cross brace vent tubes and looks like I can get to it. Very Happy

You probably can but those little screws are at a goofy angle might be quite vexing. you sound like an an old hand at VW's and mechanics generally but do you know for sure the gauge is bad?
some tests to try here:

Blue Bug Thanks for the link it helped. And yes I am much better at taking out the dash of a vanagon. Got the gauge out, the vibrator was good seems the gauge was bad. Put in a new one and it worked. Monday will put in a new sending unit just for the what If and to keep It all new. And yes those little screws were at a goofy angle. Very Happy
