The type three engine arrived today
....The titled 72 squareback that it came with is almost rust free...
I am only using the engine and the engine inside cover from wall to wall ; back seat to rear hatch and the rear bumper. If you thought the bus " butchering " was bad ; stay tuned for " type3 butchery"
I hope I can sell off EVERYTHING else Including a COMPLETE automatic trans with every associated part including the tail gate script to a type 3 restorer _________________ 63 two fold rag

Hey Pete, let me know how much you want for the auto setup. I have 4 speed parts I could throw in the deal on my side to give you more parts to sell or use. _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

Pete -- you might want to also save the air intake sheet metal from the rear apron area. It's the part where the rubber boot attaches between the engine and the car. You'll need that for the sedan delivery, since the air will have to be ducted from the louvers to the engine through the rubber boot. Look at the Squareback to see the path of the airflow.
This is necessary for engine cooling. If you leave the boot off, the engine will just suck in hot exhaust air and overheat. _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback |

End play is end play. It's set in the same manner. Only difference is that you're now doing it with a flywheel instead of a flex-plate. You'll probably need to pick up an assortment of shims if you don't have some to work with, just so you'll have the right ones on hand to come up with the right amount of play. |

T3 butchery
before
this week I have 3 days to tear it down to a deck with the engine access hole and inner wheel wells....I just went to HD and bought 20 cut off wheels and 6 sawsall blades
After
I put this in3 days later.....4 sawsall blades ; 6 cutoff wheels/The front half of the pan and the firewall went to scrap yard....I'll be working on the engine deck and inner fender piece next
I found an air conditioning evaporator with it"s own fan under the gas tank...Anybody know if that is a common thing in T3 squares ?? _________________ 63 two fold rag

Yes, A/C was fairly common, probably more so than in Beetles. Mine had it at one point, but was removed before I bought the car. _________________ 71 Elm Green FI A/T Squareback |
