I have a 74 bus. There are no heat tubes from the heater control boxes all the way to the front. I cant find anything in any of my manuals about it. I know this is probably simple for most of you but I would really appreciate any help. I need it in before winter(I live in Wisconsin). I want to do it myself rather than taking it in. Thanks. |

No Heater tubes at all? Usually the one in the middle rots out for us in the north(I'm in IN) I used a metal pipe(a light weight one) and some insulation, for the middle...
some small PVC pipes work ok in the back, if your rear tubes are missing. Who knows, you probably have them, they might just be rotten....good luck.
(I don't know of any manuals..sorry ) |

Pretty simple stuff. You have a curved tube running from each heater box and they merge into a single tube about 12" in front of the boxes. That tube runs up the middle of the car until it goes into the cabin.
For a better explanation look at type2.com under "Heat" and Heat, Rust, and Noise in VWs. |
