Well look what we find in the Classifieds today... Hmmmm Very interesting! Went from Tubdub, to Bill May, to this current dude... Anyone got some more history to add to this good old bus? Getting better all the time!! To those who have helped, thanks. This old bus needed everyone's help. Good job so far! Keep those welders going!

Coming back home tomorrow to bring this old dude a new lease on life. Driving deep into the back woods of Armstrong Woods Wednesday with the '66 Kombi, loaded with tools, food, generator, 36 motor, generous brake parts and planning on camping, wrenching, and driving it out, where it's been parked now for 20 years, on the drums, in the dirt. Mission accomplishment will be pulling into Christopher Moore's a hundred miles away in Willits... within 48 hours. This is what it looked like before I "established base camp" We had a long talk, and the Panel says he's ready to go.

You mean, he never picked it up? It never got down to SD? Looks like the new dude made some headway, but the Roof TRP installed was BIG!

Bill had is for quite a whole down in SD but didn't get much done to it because he has a a$$hole neighbor who calls the cops on him if he so much as checks his oil.

Wow! Super bummer about Mr. May's neighbor!

I'll PM this new guy and see if we can get him to fill in the gaps... I'm really happy to see it out there! With only one post, I don't think the dude has even seen this thread, but I sent him a link.

Here I am, in the middle of the night taking a picture of myself with the camera on ten second delay. It was a pretty scary location actually, I was doing this one out in the middle of the forest so far from anywhere, if Bigfoot came to get me -or worse- an accident, etc, no one would have heard me scream or found me for days Shocked I used a Honda EU1000 inverter generator for power, and it ran my shop vac, lights and electric impact wrench. Used mostly hand tools, a big hammer and a propane torch. 36 horse engine was a failure, I forget what happened, but I ended up using a forty horse as I recall... one with a dropped valve, and I swapped the head on it about five miles into the mission. This bus was a really fun evolution... largely because I was able to keep you crazies posted via text messages while I was doing it... amazingly there was a cell tower -just- within my phone's texting ability, and if I tried to call, it would never go through. Good times!

PM sent! Ok, time to sit back... and wait... kinda' like fishing... Wink

As remarkable as it was, the BUS earned that thing, not me. You'll be happy to know, it is clearly still attached to the Oh Shit Handle in the classified add this dude posted. Wonder where this guy is... no response to the PM... kinda' thinking I need to change the bait.
