I did not take this photo. This photo was taken by the gentleman that sold me the car. It is somewhere like Oxnard or Ventura, I believe. I purchased the car in Camarillo. All of these places are Ventura County. _________________ 1966 Slammed Vert Gone

My '65 has the same starting issue you describe. When the car is warm it's hard to start but if I keep the accelerator pressed all the way down it'll start. You might try that. _________________ '65 1500 S [quareback]

This car and the Nutria brown sunroof car that was in a warehouse were for sale for a looong time. I had my eye on both, but then sense kicked in I opted out. Both nice cars, and time capsules. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

This is exactly correct:
"Depress the accelerator pedal fully only when the engine is very warm".
Clunky translation from the original German, but they're telling you to hold the pedal to the floor while operating starter on a warmed up engine. On an engine that's "above freezing" but not hot, hold it half way. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to try this the next time I drive it. I'm waiting for the registration so driving the car right now is a bit of a gamble.
It doesn't have plates. I hired an "expert" to resurrect the Black/Gold plates.
The process has been taking a little longer than expected. _________________ 1966 Slammed Vert Gone

"Expert"
Hmmm, sounds kinda crazy Chuck Your expert needs to give you the temporary permit to drive the car while Sacramento clears the plates.
I'm still jealous. I was like #25 on the list of people to buy your car but I am glad it went to a cool dude. |

To add some personal experience, I had to do this on both my '66 and '67s that I daily drove for years in the summer. Not always though, I would always try to start it first. Sometimes it would start right up, sometime it took some or all of the pedal. I always pressed the pedal very slowly to floor first. _________________ How to Post Photos

I remember seeing this up for sale last year. I believe it was sitting in one of the barns in the Oxnard Plain, somewhere near the mushroom plant.
Great car, congratulations! |

I liked that wheel setup but incorrect. I actually think the white lip
with black center on the wheels looks better than the all black originals.
I'm trying to keep it all OG. Still trying to decide whether or not
To re install the trim rings.
Maybe I should just slam it and put Fuch's on it! _________________ 1966 Slammed Vert Gone

I liked that tire and rim combo too. I bet the car drove better with it as well.
When I did my T-34 Ghia, I painted the center section body color, then painted the outer ring part white. While not completely stock, it does look better that way (in my opinion) versus installing the trim ring. Add in that I'm running black wall tires, the white rim edge helps break off the color. The way I looked at it, it's my car, and I'm going to drive it wherever I want, so I might as well make it look good. The next owner can paint them black again, and add the trim rings.
Nice car, and it cleaned up really good too. Have fun and enjoy it.
P.S. I also went with a set of polished 5 spokes. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I haven't posted here in a while. I've finally got the DMV process almost completed. I'll be detailing the car little by little. Hopefully I can attend the VW Classic with my little Square in June. Here are some new photos. I spent about 30 minutes on the left side upper beltline just behind the driver door. I think it looks pretty good for a 35+ year old crappy repaint. many parts of the body will not be able to shine up that much but I will continue detailing what I have. I will NOT be repainting the car. Too much $$$ for my budget...
I also spent some time cleaning up the trunk space and all of this area has the OG paint and the original liner card (BEAUTIFUL)!!
before...
after...
spare tire area.

Wow, I missed this one before. This car is a time capsule! Is that spare original? Also, I see the back seat back has the original chord upholstery. Have you looked under the other seat covers to see if it’s still there? |

All the under bonnet paint and mats are original.
I think I will inspect the seats a little closer. You never
