Cris,
How does that work, with an air compressor or? |
It works with the exhaust pipe. Simple and efficient.

Those air lift bags are great for sand or mud. I would have a 3/4" square of plywood same size as the airbag diameter to put between the Doka and the bag just to ensure it doesn't get a hole punched in it by something on the underbody.
On another note, is that a diesel TDi oilpan I see under it? |

Good call on the plywood.
It is the stock, factory 1.6TD engine. Wouldn't mind to have a TDi in there!

Not so much today, but the last 2 weeks I've been busy on my '91, Dave (aka 'the Hoff'... you figure it out). Picked it up mid Feb, put in some new goodies. This is how far I have gotten
day I got it... all mellow and passenger friendly
put in my fav JVC dual phone Bluetooth/iPod friendly multi input digital media receiver
with a spot for my iPhone
threw on a set of Thule's for my longboards and bikes
with plenty of room leftover for a Tepui
swiveled the passenger's seat
a couple proper stickers
and still have the goods to install a camp battery and dual bank charger hooked up to a Westy shore power panel. Currently concocting a cabinet for behind the driver's seat. Had to put the purchases on pause so the wife didn't go into full panic mode, but hoping to have it lifted on some type of all terrain tires (BFGs maybe?) with all the 'body kit' pieces ripped off. _________________ 1964 Beetle |

New ball joints, Bushings, shocks, tie rods, re-packed the bearings, etc. About 8 hours all in. About 60% ready to camp this season, lots more to do.

yeah, my front end suspension needs some attention, too. But all I could manage was the headlight buckets..started with new GW headlight relays and bright lights a few weeks ago. Then, the low beam went out on one side. Turned out to be a loose connection behind the fuse panel. But, the headlight sockets were crusty..picked up a pair of NAPA heavy duty three prong connectors with pigtails..
Silver POR15ed the buckets, with stainless mounting screws...should be could for another 34 years..

Installed an auxiliary battery. After lots of searching, reading, hand wringing... I decided to go the Yandina route. Extremely easy. And since I had the front carpet out for a different project, everything is hidden and tucked away. One of my better projects.
While was in there, I finally replaced and rewired my cigarette lighter, fixed and rewired my radio, and rewired the interior lights, fixed and rewired my sink pump, and installed headlight relays from thatvwbusguy.
I guess my electrical really needed some TLC. I was sort of surprised to see how bad the PO butchered some of the wiring, especially around the radio.
Big thanks to the Samba experts and all the Aux battery threads! _________________ Jason

I wondered when I was gonna see RTTs showing up on tin-top Vanagons. Very Nice. _________________ 1984 Westfalia Wolfsburg "Nana" |

and went from Silver, to dark eggshell black, refinished the wheels, put some new nokians on em.. new hardware and locking lugs..
The new and improved hotness.. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get it OUT of the friggin garage.. I had 1/4 inch of clearance, 1/8 tank of fuel.. whoa.

Finished the insulation and new marine ply with a satin black urethane coating front/ back and screwed to the floor.

Fabricated a roof rack, installed two 100-watt solar panels, 20-Amp charge controller, 255Ah AGM battery and a 1500-watt inverter. Also installed a couple of antennas for my nerd hobby (HAM radio)
EDIT: I installed the Jack Bombay Pop-Top hydraulic Shock kit that I purchased from Mark Goddard
The shocks work great! Even with the added weight I put up there (approx 45 lbs.), these shocks almost lift the top automatically. They also hold the top open a foot or so after dropping it down, making it easier to gather up the canvas before the final pull down. It was a quick and easy install, and well worth the $95.
I removed the rear hatch panel as it was badly cracked. Glued and clamped it (hope it works) ??? ... If not, I'll trace the old one onto a new sheet of luan paneling.
Installed 1.5" thick foil-lined Styrofoam insulation while I was in there. Plan to install the same type of insulation when I replace all the rest of the paneling. _________________ Mark S.,

My van was down for 5 weeks. Had my transmission rebuilt by Rancho. Mike was great to deal with and shared lots of info. My box was OG with 278,000 miles. Yes I needed my ring and pinion replaced.
While she was down new Powerflex Polyurethane Bushings and hardware for rack and pinion, radius rods, yellow front transmission mount, and front sway bar. Thank you T3 Technique for great service.
New stearing couplers, and shift rod bushing and other hardware from Van Cafe.
After setting up my shift rod a 2nd time with the 23mm spacer. Make sure your spacer is on the large size instead of small. I just grabbed a air fitting that was a little undersized and I had problems. Made a new 23mm spacer out of a 2x4 and it worked great. _________________

Made sense for me. My kids have more room up top plus I ended up with a MUCH nicer Vanagon for the price and can customize it to fit my personal needs. Have a long list of plans before camp season. _________________ 1964 Beetle |

Installed a passenger side swivel seat base! Woohoo! This has been on the list for a long time.
We did a bunch of small welds, smoothed it down a little, then hit the exposed metal bits with some white Rustoleum for good measure.
I also cut open the front section, as others have done, for access to the under-seat area. I might make a drawer for it -- we'll see.
