i must apologize because i usually dislike these kinds of threads, but i need some help determining if any of these parts are correct for my 3/51 split, or if they should go in the swap meet pile.
i've tried looking in other threads, in the gallery, etc, but i can not get a clear answer in my head.
please let me know.
thanks.

I think the first hood stay s correct, I vaguely remember the correct early one having the slight Z bend in it.
I am not sure about the inspection covers, but I know the earliest one do not have an notch cut, but rather just a small "Z" tab welded to the the backside opposite the screw hole. The ones in your pics are the later, simplified ones with a notch cut and bent back, a simplified design.
I am not totally sure about either of those things, but that is my recollections.
Don't second guess asking this forum about details on parts, its what we do best....!! _________________ John Henry

the yellow hood prop is like the one for a split or early oval. the black one is 56-61.
im sure there is probably some differences in the prop that will make it split only or oval only but i dont know them. but the yellow one is for sure 55 and older
the steering box covers the one with the smaller inner bump/circle is 1960-1961 for sure because i have both years to go look at.
my 55,54,53,52,51 all have the ones with the larger bump/circle _________________ Jesus Saves

thanks for the info! i was hoping the big circle plates were correct, or at least "more" correct than the small circle ones. the small ones go for sale!
i also though the yellow prop looked "older" and a bit more primitive and more stout.
i have a few more misc items to verify the "splitness" of, i'll post them here as i come across them. thanks again. _________________ thebucket: I invested in hoodride, now DBD won't return my call?

My 53 had a straigh hood prop like number 2.
My 58 and 59 had the curved one.
The 53 and 58 were original paint under the hood with the original Kamax bolts. |

ikm going with these pics. My zwitter has the first one and my 57 has the second. Ithink the yellow one is late oval and I'm not sure about the black one. I don't think it's split though. The way it locks looks different.

I'm finishing ups some details getting ready for paint finally. My hood prop shown here:
has a little bit of a twist on the short arm (the one with the bolt in it) which is tough to see.
You can see the twist on this one better:
I'm trying to sort out if the twist is supposed to be there (on the short arm) or not.
Can someone with an early split have a look at their prop and see if the short arm has a twist or is it completely flat.
Thanks! |

I solved my own question by actually test fitting up the prop and sure enough, the twist is required to allow the prop to clear the hinge when the hood is down and the prop folded back.
