|
|
I seriously think gas burner wheels would be so epic in 17" sizes for all patterns.. wide 5, 4x130, and 5x130.. think of the market appeal.. these imo would fly off the shelf.. If i had some extra capital I would make these wheels and they would sell for $140 each.. Just imagine the slots being inch bigger of a hole.. that much lighter looking and raddd!
thoughts?

He has a narrowed beam.. duhh.. it wont work very well on narrowed beams.. I have several friends in germany and australia that have 17x7 Fuchs with 40et on their type3s reporting no such issues.. _________________ Click to view image |

Yo Dogg. If you are rude, it limits the useful replies you receive to your post.
My thoughts on the 17" gas burners? I don't think they would be especially epic or particularly raddd.

Me personally, I'd never put bigger than 16" on a classic vw since it defeats handling purposes and safety. I will stay with my 15" and even if they offered stylin wheels in 17" I doubt I would even look twice at them. I had 17" Enkei wheels on a 72 Ford F100 for 3 days before swapping them for stock steel wheels which were 15" because the handling and ride was terrible. _________________ 68 bug, 1500 single port

Baja ive been on this forum long enough to know what im doing.. no need for an explination of the proper samba way to get an informative response. thank you kindly but ill keep being a jack ass if i think it calls for it. Plain and simple it seems the people I know around the world are more into 17" wheels and have actually used them on a VW.. honestly it just sounds like you are nay sayers for completely unrelated experiences.. a 72 fucking truck handling wise is nothing like a 60s type3 or ghia.. so thats why im rude all you guys have are educated presumptions based off what others might of said or indirect experiences.. im coming at you with feedback directly from at least three people who drive on 17s everyday on type3 and a ghia with nothing but positive things to say... so yeah they must be wrong and your predictions are correct..
Lets make this clear.. 17" wheels on a VW work and they work well.. _________________ Click to view image |

I know, since it had dropped I-Beams and could run the 1/4 mile in 10.5 with street tires. Handled very horrible at 120mph I'd say. I was just saying, any 17" wheel would sit in a warehouse and rot away before I'd buy it. Doesn't matter who made it or how the style of it is. I stay clear of oversized rims due to the manner of cars they screw up. It's horrible on suspension to ride such things not to mention the weight of the wheels and such causes more wear on bearings and other parts. _________________ 68 bug, 1500 single port

I honestly don't think there is a large enough market for 17 inch gasburners, at least not enough for a company to warrant the development costs. Consider the amount of wheels already on the market, which ones do you see most commonly? BRM's, 5 Spokes and Fuchs. _________________ '68 Sunroof Squareback

if you want em in 17" buy a set and have the lip and barrel cut off and the remaining center machined for BBS or OZ lips. |

Well I guess it's all down to personal choice huh?
Personally I think vintage vw's look shite with 17's on, but that's just my personal choice dude. _________________
