I know nothing about things, but i had a 98 jetta and loved it and now want an old VW to fix up and the Thing is the shit. The question is, is the thing in the classifieds ($1500 and from dallas area) worth it? Is it overpriced?

Thanks

Things are VERY expensive to fix up. just to replace the rockers is about over $300 and you need 4 of them. And the only place to get them is the Thing shop.

RE: the dallas Thing...it depends on the condition. Take a VW entusiast with lots of air-cooled VW knowledge with you when looking at it. Restoration can cost $5000-$10000.

DO RESEARCH BEFORE EVEN LOOKING AT A THING!! they are definitely cool! But every part is expensive and hard to find.

Good Luck!
