Changed wheels. Went from widened 19.57 356 wheels (the rears were bent) to Appliance Pacers. 14x6 and 15x8. I may paint the centers silver, not sure yet.

Don't recall if I ever posted any photos of the J-bug once I finished him, so here he is basking in the sunshine of a late English summer .. down at the Dreamshack ...

To satisfy Dutch regulations, there could be no extender or chassis alterations and the body/engine/steering /brakes specs could only be modified within certain limits (sedan, 4 seats, 2 doors, etc. etc.) so to get the hot rod look on a standard wheelbase I had to shrink the body.

Chopped 4 inches, channeled 3 inches, 3 inch vertically sectioned doors, 7 inch vertically sectioned rear quarters, 4 inch trans raise, Porsche rear disks, and a whole of of other bits 'n' bobs. Concept, bodywork, paint, engineering, (everything except the short block) was done over 3 yrs of spare time, 100% by me, in a draughty old boat shed.

(more plans for 2014 ... new stainless exhaust, gearbox mid-mount, wet nitrous, fly-by-wire throttle, a little body surgery (if there's time), new seats, reupholster, yada yada ... more photos if I ever get it done)

Thanks Jack .. the dash is made from the inboard sections and clocks from an RHD and an LHD dash.

the clocks are a regular 1960's 140 kph speedo and a home built tacho .. it's a UK/US 90mph speedo with the face rotated clockwise by one scale division and a photoshopped insert in the lower quadrant ... That was mated up to a new VDO 8k tacho and the 60's needle fitted back on the spindle ... Took a lot of fiddling but now my 'genuine 1960s beetle tacho' causes a lot of headscratching Smile

Did you ask something stupid? I only remember one set of people VR has had a dust up with in the last 7 or 8 years.. normally they're pretty open to everybody..
