If you have your own shopping cart sometimes you can get pretty close to the campus. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

Any reason ASU? I wouldn't want to "camp" anywhere near campus.
If you're in a bus you can park and crash out in any Walmart Parking lot but all the Walmarts near the campus are shady at best. Are you passing through? What's you're plan and I might be able to recommend something better somewhere else close to town. |

My son has a Lacrosse game at ASU on a Friday night and then another one on Saturday at U of A. I don't know this area at all, I have stayed in many of Walmarts and know thats an option. I just want to find out if there was a decent campground in the area.
Thanks |

It's a big city and many miles to the outskirts of the city where you might find campgrounds. There is a KOA in the far east valley. What you could
also do is google search for campground in Phoenix. And the Walmart in Mesa just a short distance from ASU is a nice 24 hour one. It is NOT in a shabby neighborhood.
I'd sure think that the KOA in the east valley/Apache Junction would be the best deal. Getting out near the Superstition Mountains and seeing why AZ is one of the most beautiful states. A tent site with or without utilities and sleeping in your bus would be a good deal. 1/2 hour drive back to ASU. _________________ 71 Superbug

Riverview Walmart? One of the worst out here.
Google Lost Dutchman State Park. Or Usery Pass County Park. 30 minutes from ASU. |

Not sure I'd use the words "really nice" but Apache Palms is a decent place and right near the school. It will get the job done for $40 and keep you and your bus secure for the night. You could also "camp" at one of the Casinos. I know Wild Horse lets you park big RV's so I cant imagine a bus with curtains bringing any unwanted attention in the lot. Security roams the lot all night there and at Talking stick. Both are about equidistant from the campus and "free". |

I think that a casino parking lot is a great idea !!!
There are lots of them here, and all the folks on the TV commercials are having a good time and are real friendly too ! _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
