Posted: Wed Feb 26, 2014 10:58 am Post subject: Proposal for a Repair Videos Sticky or Announcement Topic |
|
|
This new topic would help us build a library of videos to add to our collection of great information. The posts could be new videos or old ones you have found online, which I'm sure there are tons of.
I know there are write ups on just about everything you could ever want to repair but sometimes seeing someone do the repair is much more helpful.
And now that most everyone has a smartphone with video capabilities it seems like a great new addition to the forum.
For those who would like to create a video, to help fill in the gaps or improve on a not so great video, here are a few tips:
1. Keep the video as step by step as possible.
2. Outline the problem, and solution.
3. Mention any specialty tools/skills that are required for the repair.
4. Make sure you have good lighting and clear audio. (YouTube will remove videos if there is recognizable copyrighted music playing in the background.)
5. Try to limit the time you have loud power tools in the video. If you feel its important try to edit the video so to lower the volume of the tool. (No one wants to hear a metal grinder going off for 10 minutes.)
6. Summarize the repair (time, cost, added supplies or tools) and mention anything you would do differently next time.
7. Post the video to YouTube, and make a playlist if you have more than one video on each repair.
8. Send me a private message about your video so I can update the post for you.
If you have found an existing repair video that you think would be a good addition send me a private message about the video so I can add it to the post for you.

Refreshing the thread as I've added more videos and I'm putting a call out for repair videos.
If you know of a good repair video or would like to make a new one to fill in the holes, shoot me a message and I'll add it/them to the list!
Thanks in advance! |
