Early popes nose on a 56/57 deck lid

Hi all,I purchased a 57 deck lid to replace my shaved 57 deck lid and want to put the early popes nose light off of a pre 55.Has anybody done this and if so how much extra work is it.Thanks,Andy

You mean pre-'53! Oval W decklids have the pope nose hole wider. I guess if you can get the metal part/area around the pope nose from the split decklid you can weld it to the oval decklid. Compare it to thise pictures.

This is just what i was talking about.Not real good with my years but you know what i am looking for.I did'nt want to buy one if i could'nt make it work.The width and height look close and i can fab up a piece for the bolt hole location.Thanks!

Repro split decklids are now being made. That would be the best route to take for putting a Pope's nose on a '57 if you don't want to cut out that section of metal and fabricate the earlier style pressing.

Above doesn't describe the difference, but yes any oval window era decklid nose is different than 1960. The oval era nose has more curves on the upper edge to fit the more defined W-decklid of 1957 and earlier
