I'm looking at buying a Fox for unavailable parts needed to finish a project. (1.8t 5spd Fox wagon shop car!) Anyway, It a rust free car that has sat for long enough that I don't care to make it run to drive back.
My question is: Is there somewhere in close proximity to Soddy Daisy TN (say within an hour or so) with a shop or yard I could remove the parts from the car? I can do it all in a few hours with a recip saw. I'll load them in a trailer I'm bringing behind my Syncro Diesel Weekender. Then we'd (you) would help dispose of the carcass? I'd pay for the time...help with a westy or VW or Audi project... maybe even bring some parts to sweeten the deal.
Many thanks, Jeff

Pretty sweet deal for some samba member.
Do we have many folks in Tennessee?
Would sending a few PMs on the vanagon rescue squad be a misuse?

I wonder the same, but I get PMs for the most insignificant stuff. I gladly respond. Hmmm...

I'm going to call a couple local salvage yards this morning. They might be able to help.

Just body parts. I need an entire front clip. I'm going to cut the TN Fox off at the windshield post and in front of the B pillars. It's a project that the whole shop is involved with... 350hp Fox Wagon Jeff's Old Volks Home Shop car. Plus I'm due for a road trip. Wink
All the Foxes here are rusted beyond repair, mine included, but I've gone too far to back out now.
Jeff

Hey Jeff

I know of a guy with 50 vws that lives near Chattanooga. Not sure he is on here but he is active in full moon bus club. He has a cherry early split westy, a bay window ecotech powered dually westy and a split window trailer conversion. Anyone know his name?

That's great, I'm leaving here today, I'll likely be in that area Wednesday... It's more about the adventure than the car. Smile
I'll be in touch if need be.

A great trip, 6000km not a single issue with my van. I took Grace, our beloved Syncro diesel weekender. normally we average 9.8l per 100km, but I drove a little harder than normal, and I pulled a 6x12 foot trailer, with the heavy end of a fox on it on the way home and still averaged 10.8l per 100km. I was very happy with that. I took 8 days, we played tourist in Chattanooga for a couple days and booted for home. A fun little road trip. I'm ready to go again.
No problems at the border, I just had to fill a form basically stating that the car I brought up can't be put back on the road... easy.
Jeff
