Did you happen to talk to Louie about making those stickers for your Heilite? |

Yes. He told me what I needed to know, which was that I should just contact local folks to do it. I will take some other pictures of the decal with a tape measure for scale and get a local pin striping/car graphics place to make a few for me.
Any ideas for replacement trim for the side cargo doors?
Mine was missing when I bought it. I don't expect to find the original stuff, so I have been hunting for something off of a early to mid 60's car that might be close...no luck yet. |

Super excited, picking up my 63 Heilite trailer from Oregon this weekend. Bought it about a year ago and it's been sitting in my parents garage. Should be back in Cali Sunday to clean it up a bit and get it ready to camp.
It'll get pulled behind my 61 ragtop. |

NICE!!! ^^^^ hope to see you there with us.
@wythac
I don't have any side moldings ether, mine are a wood finish. I'm not sure if mine are suppose to have aluminum paneling over the wood or not too. |

Another beautiful trailer. I think the simplicity of these really make them easy to restore/maintain.
Folks55, from what I have seen of intact ones, the metal or aluminum trim is staked to the plywood sides. The ones I have seen have two "comet" shapes..real simple but distinctive. While my search hasn't been real active, it has been along the lines of finding something that looks close and fits in the space, rather than finding something original....still lookin'..... |

Just got back to so cal after a 1000 mile drive down from Portland. All I did to get it ready was throw new tires on it from harbor freight and repack the bearings, towed awesome! |

So cool to see these trailers making a comeback. The more the better is how I see it.
@sprkplg08

Unless you have other reasons to convert your Beetle to 12v, you might consider trying to find some 6v bulbs for the trailer taillights. It would take you less than 5 minutes to change them with the 12v ones.
Congratulations on your successful maiden voyage. I had a similar one, buying it in Reno and towing it to Seattle on a weekend. It was a fun and event free trip.
On my way back in Northern CA, near Susanville. |

I got a Heilite trailer form a friend, without the tent. When I called Bear Creek Canvas the told me they needed the original tent in order to make a copy. If anyone has one or knows where I can find one please let me know. Here are some pics of my trailer.
Thanks.

Nice score! Perhaps someone with the same trailer can have one of their local canvas shops sew one up for you using their tent as a template. This way you could directly pay the bill and shipping threw the shop that's making it. This should be pretty to make happen for you. Good luck and hope to see you out there soon.. |
