|
|
I have been looking for a long chassis fiberglass dune buggy for a while. I am in a small-ish town (40,000+), so there aren't car lots full of them around here. I am not that familiar with the many types or body styles of long chassis buggies. I am familiar with the Mini-T - does anyone have pictures/info, etc. about other true 4-seaters?
Thanks in advance |

Wow, there are a lot of choices. Thanks for the links, guys. I don't plan to buy a new body, but rather prefer an unfinished project. Gotta' polish up my Gazelle for Craigslist. |

Searching for an old Manx style full chassis body is a long, often fruitless search. There weren't many companies that made them over the years, nor was there as much demand in the days of "smaller" Americans. It took me three years of searching and a drive to Massachusetts to find mine.
Other than the The Manx Resorter, Allison, Spatz and Fibrejet are the only three I know for certain made a long manx clone or similar long body. Some of the truggy bodies fit a long pan, but are two seat.
I didn't have the budget to buy a new one when I got mine, but now I'm short on time. If the body was in better shape when i bought it I'd have had a running driving buggy years ago. I've actually considered thinning my heard and buying a new long body from Acme now that Berrien is only about 80 miles away and shipping is no longer a problem/ major expense.
There are also a couple places that make a long body in california but their contact info and or sites seem to come and go. I think Texas Buggies may have actually bough ttheirs from MGM, and there's is one that has a rear cut out in the package shelf area and is both deeper and wider aimed at long travel use. _________________ 71 LWB Manx style dunebuggy

All the new bodies I see are for full size/non-shortened chassis'
I didn't build mine but I think it's just the normal way of doing it nowadays
There's a company near me that makes full length bodies, they run about $1800, here's the link

Here's mine, just a clone full pan buggy

LWB new bodies may be more prevalent in southern California but nation wide I think its probably close to 50/50 now days. |

You and Andy can wrestle for it if I ever decide to part with it. He's wanted it since the guy I got it from delivered it to his house _________________ 71 LWB Manx style dunebuggy
