Hi, have a 69 squareback that i have got 4 new empi 5x15 sprintstars too.
had before 165/80-15 rims all around at stock rims, but think they are a little high profile and i could maybe want a little wider tires back

thinking of maybe 165/70-15 in front and
175/70-15 in the back.

would maybe lower it a little at the supension also.

what tires do you use at your type3"s.

155/60/15 in front and 185/55/15 in back. These are continental tires that are also found on the smart car. These are on Fuch repops, 4.5 front and 5.5 back

You need to find out what offset, or back space those rims are/have. I've run 195-60-15s on the front with a set of 5.5 inch wide Mangles, and also on my 5.5 inch 36 spoke Shelby's. But I also ran 205-65-15s on both of those rims in the rear. My 71 SquareVert currently has the Shelbys on it, and is lowered 2 outer splines up front, and 1 spline in the rear, with the 195-60 & 205-65 tire combo, with no rubbing. Cool

Were talking about the new aluminum Sprint Star correct ?
Fronts :
185/65/15 if your lowering a bit.
195/65/15 will rub on turns if lowered.
Rears :
205/65/15
These sizes are close to the 165/15 overall diameter.

Roll the fender lips and you could go wider.
I'm running Yokohama and Kumho tires on my Type 3's.

Hi,
yes it new alumium think they have offset: ET 25

In my mind 185/65-15 in front is a little big.

also 205/65-15 for the rears..

would prefer maybe around 165 wide in front and 175-185 back.

the rims i have are also just 5 inch wide,
i mean some come in 5.5 inch wide.

how much lowered is your type 3s.

im thinking of maybe just lower it a litlle in front.

regards TROND

185/55/15 or 185/60/15 front and lower 2-3 splines. 185/65/15 or 195/65/15 rears and lower 1-2 notches good set up for mildly lowered t3. i've had 7-8 different sets of wheels on my square. my favorite front tire yet has been the 185/55/15s i had on i think my second set of wheels. og baby burners. i ran the 185/65/15 and 195/65/15 and was 4 spline front drop and a combo of inner and outer out back that is about 1/2-1" less than 3 spline drop. at 4 splines up front i would rarely get wheel rub. at 2-3 spline you'd probably never get wheel rub.

i used Achilles brand 185/55/15s from tireseasy.com. they were a GREAT tire. when i bought them they were only $44ea. i think they are about $60 now. still worth it in my opinion. when i sold that set of wheels with about 10k on the tires they still looked brand new and measured out to 9/32 minimum. not bad for a cheap import tire....ken....

Cool car luckystiff.. are you gonna fix it or wreck it. The tire size looks as they fit well to.

I could maybe want a little more flat hub caps. See that someone also take them off.
Think they sticks a little too much out from center.

Thanks for the picture.

Very sorry to see damage like that. When I acquired my 68 from the local Salvation Army lot it was slammed in the front and was wearing 135s. It had clearly been run into something ... but not as hard as yours.

So my question is: do you think the smaller front tires contributed to the accident? Did they lock up? Be honest now. Wink

the 145s never locked up and slid. i simply couldn't stop in time. guy stopped short on me. i had a choice of rear end him, vear left and get hit head on, or vear right and hit a fire hydrant. i did everything in my power to stop. pedal to the floor, down shifting, it just wasn't meant to be. i have rolled it up pretty high as he had just stopped short on me 50-100 yards before and stopped with me just behind a peak of a big hill.

this happened april 2013. october 2013 i took it to a local frame shop and had alot of the damage pulled. on the way home from the frame shop it had an electircal fire. pulled it home and it's sat since. i have all the sheetmetal to fix it thanks to my buddy jim who donated a front clip, hood, and fenders.

i've been wrapped up with my 62 f100 unibody that i'm doing jaguar xjs suspension in most of the last year. i've been thinking about pushing the f100 out and doing the clip on the square lately though. i miss driving that car and was just starting to have fun with the 2021...ken....

oh i will admit the severity of the damage may have been partly to the car being so low to begin with and then all my attempts to stop making it "dive" even more. it was a nissan versa hatchback i hit and my headlights left ring impressions on his bumper. low on his bumper, like the upper part of the lights left half rings on the lower part of his bumper. if the car were even a coupla inches higher the damage may not have been quite as bad.

but all my stuff is low. if it bites me in the ass so be it. the way i did the jag front in my f100 gives it about 9" of drop from stock height....
