|
|
I haven't started a build thread for my 1987 Vanagon Westfalia which I've named Libby so I will get this one going.
Most of all of my mods and tweaks are fully documented on my blog so I'll use this thread to link back to those threads. I know this is not the normal way of doing things but it helps me keep from cross posting information as well as help share the information with you guys.

I sure do love Libby! Great thread here, my man! I plan to benchmark off a lot of your customizations! Cheers!

July 21, 2014 is the 1 year anniversary of me test driving and purchasing my 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia in Phoenix, AZ. You can read the full story HERE about how I found her on Craigslist in Phoenix and booked a last minute flight to go see her in person. It was crazy how it all played out but makes for a great story. These are some comparison photos from how Libby looked on the day I saw her in 2013 compared to now in 2014.
It seems like I’ve had Libby for years as opposed to just one year. The amount of sweat equity I’ve invested into her can not be fully explained. I’ve worked many nights and weekends on Libby in order to get her perfect… perfect to me. Many VW purists out there will not agree with all of the modifications I’ve made and will look down upon me but I say to them… Last I checked it was still MY name on the title… =).
Libby has had a ton of additions and modifications done to her in order to make her much more user friendly. Fortunately she was already very mechanically sound when I bought her so I could focus on more of the creature comforts for the upcoming long road trips in 2015.
I got most of what I’ve needed done in order to prep her for the long 2 week+ road trips in 2015 with a few exceptions. A Propex Propane Heater for camping in the cold Colorado mountains as well as an onboard ARB Air Compressor in case we need to air down our tires for a little off road trekking and need to air back up once we’re back on paved roads. These last two items will come within the end of the year for certain.

Wait...it looks like there is another flap on that wallet!
There's only two people that matter...the one waking up next to you and the one signing your paycheck. The rest are just opinions.
It's looking GREAT! |
