I've spent all morning searching the gallery, classifieds, And going through old posts, but it can't seem to find what the original asking price is for a '73 super. Anybody know?

This was the price of the Standard, and I think the Super was $300-$500 more...but I could be mistaken.

I'm adjusting for a Super Beetle, as opposed to a regular bug.

Also, the prices varried from state to state.

Hmmm. Well known that by '73 and well into '74 that the value of the DM vs. the USD was causing VW issues and that year over year price changes also helped kill Beetle sales. I think the $2500 price for a non-optioned '73 Super is pretty accurate.

My last trip home from Vietnam was in March of 73 and I bought a new Super in the San Diego area and it was Approx $2400. For some reason I remember there being a $200.00 surcharge on this vehicle. Maybe that was because of the DM vs USD at the time. Wish I still had it. Was that wonderful Kelly green color with buckskin color camel inside.

If memory serves me correctly, Dad paid 2800 for our 73 SB. Got 400 for the 59 beetle he traded in.

For what it's worth, here in Norway, a 1973 Super beetle in LS trim without sunroof, cost 29.500 Norwegian Crowns. A 1974 Golf L cost 35.000 Norwegian Crowns.

As always, the taxes were hard-hitting, the dollar was 7 Norwegian Crowns at the time.
