Gary LaVere and his crew are graciously opening their doors once again for a pre-Bug Bash (June 22nd) open house on Saturday June 21st from 10am to 3pm. LaVere's is located at 1121 Landini Lane, Concord, CA 94521 right off Monument Blvd off HWY 680.
Come check out their huge facility, see the latest restorations in progress, take your picture in front of the famous wall of decklids and enjoy Gary's killer chili and some funky hot dogs compliments of LaVere's. Impromptu VW show For more information call 925-798-2001
Everyone is welcome whether you have a VW or not. If you haven't been there before it's worth stopping by to say hi.
LaVere's has a couple very rare VW's at this time. First is a 1950 Split Window Bug. 1950 was the first year beetles were imported into the United States. This is actually one of those original 300 1950 beetles imported by Hoffman Motors in New York City that year. These 300 were the pioneers to all that followed. Very cool...
Second is a 1960 walk-thru 23 window Deluxe Sunroof Microbus. Yes walk-thru is very rare for this year bus, but this one has a one-of-only-3-known-to-exist accessory boats that fit right on the roof of this or any other 1967 or earlier Type II.
There is also a 1957 Volkswagen Industrial motor on display that has never been used or even started since it was built in 1957.
Don't miss Dave Heard's famous Bug Bash the following day at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in Antioch. Gates open at 8am. $10 entry fee gets you (and your VW) not only admission but a swap or display space as well. What a deal. You gotta make this show...
