I was in the local Ship it 4 You place last week sending out a split bus bulkhead section and starting chatting with a guy that was in front of me. He was curious as to what was in the large box, so naturally I told him what it was and my passion for old VW buses. The guy in front of him in line turns around a few times to check us out and to listen in to our conversation. After a few more minutes he turns around again and says "I used to have one of those old buses. Remember the movie Alice's Restaurant? Well, I was working on the set at the time and they had 2 or 3 extra buses around in case something happened during the shooting. After the film wrapped up, I ended up buying one for like $800 and used it quite often. It even had the logo on the front door, etc..I used to have people wave to me all the time" He also stated that he was recently approached by one of the auction houses to see if he still had it and wanted to sell, but he no longer owns it.
Pretty cool start to my day! |
Too bad. That could have been a very cool find if he still had it.

Just saw this today. Good looking, white over green, slash front bumper, no towel bar and the movie was good too. _________________ Prosit!

I paused comedy central's showing of Idiocracy to get this image of a 15 window. It is from the scene, "The great garbage avalanche of 2505".
I thought this was funny or maybe genius movie making, a bus in a junk pile. Check it out. Here is a photo I took off the T.V. and a link to the scene. You can see the bus on the zoom in.
Old school screen capture:

Movie info: (Maya Rudolph is hot in this)
Private Joe Bauers, the definition of "average American", is selected by the Pentagon to be the guinea pig for a top-secret hibernation program. Forgotten, he awakes 500 years in the future. He discovers a society so incredibly dumbed-down that he's easily the most intelligent person alive.

Yes, I have been notoriously cheap in my life. This TV was given to me. Pretty much everything in my house was given to me. The picture was taken with a circa 1999 Sony Cyber shot point and shoot camera that I talked someone into going half and half on it (and we could share). I did have to pay for my buses, $3,500 and $800. No one wants to give me a split window bus. These days I can't even get someone to sell me one from their field!
I even borrow a friends dog on the weekends for my kid. But some how, I still am not ahead of the game. Good saver, terrible earner.
That might be a 13 window bus in the picture. It is hard to tell with the poor resolution. Or 11? |

You're a bit late with that one:

I will try to totally redeem myself with another movie at a later date. And this time, I will count the window properly. |

I watched the Formula 1 documentary last night called "1" and at approx. 30 minutes in there is a close up of a high roof ambulance carrying the mortally injured Jim Clark from the Hockenheim circuit in 1968.

Peggy Lipton and a bus. "Solid" man.
Also watched a quirky 1966 British movie, (aren't they all?)"Blowup". About 21min in, the protagonist is driving around and passes a single cab parked. Several bugs in scenes too. _________________ in order

Totally.
And I think they said that if he had been put in the full life-saving service ambo that was also there and then taken him to the hospital with full life-saving service that he would have lived. They said, "Wrong ambulance and taken to wrong hospital. By the time he was taken to the right hospital he'd died."
So, it was all the High Roof's fault. |

I'll Take Sweden (1965) with Bob Hope ,at 31 minutes in Bob Hope is sitting on his luggage in the back of a ruby red bug sticking out of the rag top.they pull up to a stop and there's a stellar 21 window where a kid through an open window squirts Bob with a squirt gun. |
