Re: The block of ballast resistors up by the double relay...

They moved them into the ECU on my '79 CA bus.

Was this on all busses '79-on, or just CA only???

Did the 49-state aircooled Vanagons have the ballast resistors in the ECU, or seperate like the older busses?

This means that 49-state Vanagons have the seperat ballast resistor pack...?

Reason I'm asking, is that certain year ECUs are hard to find.
But Vanagons are plentiful, and parts easier to get.
As long as the resistor pack is separate, and not in the ECU, life is good for an earlier bus to use a Vanagon ECU.

Right?

Air cooled Vanagon wiring schematic, no ballast resisters to be seen:

Look!
Right there on the left side - Lower/middle along the left edge....

"On 49-State and Canada vehicles a series resistance is located between fuel injection control unit and injectors..."

So it looks like the 49-state Vanagon ECU can be used with our earlier busses, as long as they are not '79 CA...

Thanks Wildthings!
