Uhhh, you didn't put my WHOLE quote in. ..And let me spell it out.. That was referring to alot of buses that sold for stupid $ at BJ....If I were at BJ and were drunk with a blank check,I would prefer to buy this bus...Is that easier to understand? _________________ Willing to trade any parts toward/for pre 1950 balloon tire bicycles and 1970-1980 BMX bikes/parts

I would think 100 grand cash on the high end would pretty much restore a deluxe. Unless you started with absolute POS.
-12 grand does an interior easily if one has the seats and top mechanism (incl labor)
-12 grand for new motor, new tranny, and new front end parts (incl labor)
-$1500 for completely new brakes
-1k for tires
-$1500 for weatherstripping
-couple grand for bright work (chrome etc)
-1 grand for glass
-2K for new harness (wiring and labor)
-1K for lenses (especially on an late 23 window)
The above is 32 grand. And some would say that those are high.
So how much is body/paint on a project bus. Obviously impossible to say ( every bus is different) All I know is that 30K spent on body and paint only will get you a damn nice bus!!
That is 62 K off the top of my head
Don't get me wrong, I would give my left nut to own that bus, but 225 is......optimistic |

For $80K you get no windshield wipers (or drivers side post), no middle seat, some seriously shitty engine compartment wiring and color choices, and a bus made from two buses so there is very little "collector value".

It's the new metal that's stamped to fit as replacement panels, ie. "Funky Green." Given what has been done to that bus, that statement tells me that all repairs were made with metal scavenged from parts buses though the implication of the text is no repairs were made at all. The text is tricky--notice how he says the bumpers are original yet they are for a 67, not a 62 or 63. Is it a lie? No, they are original, just not to that bus.
The seller is a regular flipper--no problem with that--and no problem with the ad, IMO. Anyone whose even considering $80K for a bus should be savvy enough to know the situation with any bus and, if they don't, it's just foolishness on their part.
My only thought, and it's not a whine, is that this particular bus is so customized/hacked that it would only appeal to a narrow market (certainly not collectors) that typically doesn't have that kind of cash to throw at a customized bus. |

Kustom, yo!
From the ad:
double magany roof racks
From Wikipedia:
Magány, sometimes translated into English as Solitude[1] or Loneliness, is an early vocal composition by Hungarian composer György Ligeti.
If he tuned the wood on the roof racks to play that while driving, that is pretty cool. Hard-hitting bass is played out anyway, it's all about 1940s Hungarian compositions now. _________________ How to Post Photos

That's good! I'm gonna use this. No sense in using two words to describe a concept when you can combine them into one made up word. _________________ - Chris
