Hey Bill, thats an absolute beauty!you should post some more pics of it.
I really miss my old swr 60'dd, im building a 54'dd now,it was delivered in primer so kind of free-ish on paint choice so wondered what everyone else would think of painting a barndoor panel in swr?would it look out of place? it will be a stock build. _________________ 1962 Turkis Westfalia so34.

My OG paint August of 61 Single cab showed up today and I assumed it was ruby red due to being a 62 model year. I waxed the original paint dash and it does not look like ruby red (My dads double cab is OG Ruby Red so I compared the two). The dash looks a lot lighter. Is it possible to have an OG SWR paint bus with fried eggs the bigger tail lights? _________________ Austin

It is possible. Let's see some pictures. Check the headlight buckets for paint codes too.

This is a really cool transition bus! I hope you start a thread on it so we can see more.

Ask and ye shall receive... before the sides were fully buffed out...
Alongside my '67 Westy...
Back in 2008 when the Panel was hired for the evening as a back-drop prop for an outside bar at a huge "Woodstock-themed" party...
This '59 DD Panel was is the recipient of the first ever Matt Miller grey upholstery kit, installed in my driveway by Matt himself (I also have kit #2 and #3 in my '59 Double-Cab too)!
An experiment in buffing vs. not-buffed. I taped off an area and went to town buffing the formerly chalky original paint . Quite a difference!
Me in the cab inside my garage...
In the garage with my Panel Bus and my '56 Ziegler-built fire department water pump powered by a VW 36hp industrial engine and my rather cool Ziegler German fire helmet with face shield ...
After I finally got the drivers side buffed out, my '87 Westfalia Camper GL in the background...

This is one of my favorite threads, every time it pops up I find myself scanning back thru the whole 14 pages. The only way to make a SWR panel any better looking (IMHO) is if it has a White roof. |

Here's my '60 W/T...Not much SWR clinging to it, but it does have a white roof. Spent its entire life in the California high desert community of Yucca Valley.
