I like to tell myself that the cloudy corners (as I think TK pointed out, old laminate) meant this window was ready to go anyway before I cracked it. I wonder about the strength of the laminate after 30 years of UV.

Neil - what price did you get? $240 was what I paid (after tax). I bought my window seal from CIP1 some time ago. I believe broco charge an additional $100 for installation - but according to the guy that includes some amount of rust cleanup as well.

I didn't get a price but the ball park figure from the guy at cheapauto was lower than the likes of Broco etc. The guy he referred me to is an independent installer.

You may have mentioned this, but do you feel that the seal you got from CIP1.ca was good quality?

I got my seal in 2005 from CIP1 and I just got another German seal from them.

I'm not a glazier, nor do I play one on TV, but it looks/feels/smells like the real thing.

I bought mine from cip1.ca about 2 years ago (just putting them in now!). Like Jake, I know not a lot on what makes a good one. I'll let you know when I get the front in. The rear hatch was really difficult to install.

A buddy of mine works at a glass company. He called to let me know that they were throwing in their dumpster
2 windshields for a 90 Cabby and one for a Vanagon. He asked if I wanted them before they were broken or smashed.
I've got the Vanagon glass stored in my home and it's a VW branded windshield, the two Cabby windshields I delivered
last weekend to Pascal for his wifes Cabby as my wifes Cabby has an airbag and takes a different size, go figure?

So I guess free is a great price for these pieces of glass!!

Purchased a windshield from the parts department at the dealer (North Seattle) last year. They had to order it, took about 5 days to get... At that time they showed 3 in stock. Its Tinted (green), no top band, no antenna. Picked it up, not installed for $158. Here's the logo:

Hi Neil,

did you end up using the contractor from cheapautobody? I used him to do a seal replacement on mine and wasn't that happy. He did do one on our Fit and one on the Lexus and both of them worked out ok. We took a rock to the windshield recently and now the Westy needs a new windshield so am perusing the threads seeing what folks are doing in Vancouver. It will be an ICBC claim if reasonable...
